Meal support

What is Meal Support?

Meal support is a session that is scheduled to incorporate your meal, giving you a safe and supportive space to challenge food fears, avoidance, and reduce stress and anxiety when eating. These sessions provide support, encouragement, and sometimes distraction with the aim to help you adhere to your treatment plan, and reduce behaviors that interfere with eating disorder recovery.

I work with...

  • Anorexia Nervosa
  • Bulimia Nervosa
  • Binge Eating Disorder
  • ARFID
  • And other disordered eating patterns

Meal Support is NOT Therapy

Although I am a therapist, meal support sessions won't feel the same as therapy sessions. My role is to offer informed support during mealtimes while helping you stay aligned with your established recovery plan.

You can schedule Meal Support even if you already have a therapist. I can collaborate with your current care team (dietitians, physicians, AND therapists) to ensure consistency and accountability.

You do not need to be a Missouri resident to schedule a Meal Support session.

Meal Support may be helpful if you...

  • Need more support than weekly therapy or outpatient appointments provide.
  • Are not yet ready for a higher level of care but require additional structure around meals.
  • Recently stepped down from inpatient, residential, PHP, or IOP and need support transitioning back to daily routines.
  • Are working to stabilize or maintain meal plan adherence.

Meal support is a supplement to your existing treatment plan and does not replace therapy, nutrition counseling, or medical care.

What to Expect

Meal support sessions are one-on-one and offered virtually. Depending on your current treatment plan, a session may include “plate checks” to ensure your meal meets your dietician’s recommendation, redirection of food rituals, and support in using your preferred coping skills. Otherwise, you direct the conversation. The goal is to get comfortable and feel relaxed during meals. If you want to talk about your favorite TV show or vent about your week, I’m listening.

Meal support sessions are $80 per session.
